AWARD: $1000.00
West Birch Creek Battlefield Tour and
Oral History project: 31 people toured
site to document (by oral history, maps,
photographs, and field notes) the West
Birch Creek battlefield.
Received $2128.45 local matching funds.
Supports three goals: to inventory
and/or preserve historical materials and
sites, to capture and organize oral histories,
and to inventory and preserve Umatilla County’s
historical sites and architecture
Benefit: Direct—31 participants gained a better
understanding of the battle. Indirect—The field notes,
audio- and video-tapes, maps, photographs, and copies
of the final report are on file at the Cultural Resources
Protection Program office.
Fourth Grade Heritage Project (Pendleton
Schools)
AWARD: $500.00
Teach Pendleton 4th grade students the value of their
local history by giving them a tour, in sight and sound, of
the artifacts, treasures and information gathered at
Heritage Station Museum
Received $800.00 in local matching support.
Supports goal to develop awareness and provide
opportunities to experience heritage, arts, and
humanities by increasing expousre in schools (K-12)
including...Tours and Field trips”
Benefit: 230 4th graders and 22 adult (teachers and
chaperones)
Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon Hall of
Fame
AWARD: $2500.00
Inventory and photograph the Hall of Fame collection of
artifacts and establish a database
Did not receive local matching dollars for the project.
Supports goal to inventory and/or preserve historical
materials and sites.
Benefit: Direct—Pendleton Round-Up and Happy
Canyon Hall of Fame organization. Indirect—Visitors to
Hall of Fame.
Vert Museum Collection Project (Umatilla County
Historical Society)
AWARD: $871.00
Purchase archival supplies to protect objects in the
Pendleton Vert Collection and to begin processing the
collection for relocation and long-term preservation at
Heritage Station, The Umatilla County Historical
Museum.
Received In-kind donation of Historical Society and City
staff time.
Supports goal to inventory and/or preserve historical
materials and sites
Benefit: Direct—City of Pendleton (collection owner)
and Umatilla County Historical Society (collection
stewards). Indirect—Visitors who view items at Heritage
Station, the Umatilla County Historical Museum or other
special projects agreed to by the City and the Historical
Society.
